Guests at a Cheshire spa will soon be able to relax in a Himalayan salt cave and zen garden before enjoying a mud bath or dipping into the outdoor hot tub. YouSpa Cheshire, based in Sandbach, is preparing to launch a new suite of high-end wellness facilities.

The new amenities - due to be completed in the next three weeks - include a steam room, hydrotherapy pool, dry-heat sauna, downstairs disabled access treatment room, rasul mud baths, Himalayan salt cave, outdoor hot tub and a zen garden. With the new facilities being made available soon, spa owner and founder Michelle Jones explained the difficult journey to reach this point.

"Doing the work has been a real challenge," she said. "The building is over 180 years old, with lots of old wooden beams and low ceilings, which meant that there wasn’t much headspace in the cellar.

"So, we had to dig down to make enough room for what we wanted - which was when we discovered the foundations were sand. That was a bit scary!

"But now we’ve put some solid concrete down there, and the renovations are nearly complete. We just need a few weeks to finish off the cosmetics. It’s been a real journey." Michelle, who previously had a career in graphic design, founded the spa in July 2021 after opening a shop to house her range of organic, homemade candles. "It’s a quirky little place," she said.

"Things have turned out very differently than from how I first imagined. I started off selling organic candles. I used my graphic design skills to build up a website, and it went really well - we sold loads of them! Suddenly I had stock all over the house. I realised I needed a stockroom to store them all.

"That’s when I bought the shop. One day a customer walked in and asked, 'Do you do aromatherapy massage?' After that I started renting out the rooms upstairs to some local masseuses. It all snowballed from there. Now we’ve got four treatment rooms and a zen garden coming soon!"

The spa has a range of treatments available, including facials, massages, salt and oil scrubs, and reflexology. Spiritual well-being services include angelic reiki, crystal therapy rituals, tarot card readings, meditation, and yoga.

The venue has a capacity of around 16 guests and Michelle believes that is what makes it special. She explained: "I’ve realised along the journey that being boutique is our strength.

"We like to give our customers lots of attention and make them feel special. We’ve built up our customer base by making people feel cared for. We’re never gonna overcrowd the spa - being boutique is who we are."

The spa accepts walk-ins but encourages visitors to book online or by calling 01270 910224.
