Riyadh, Jumada II 13, 1439, Mar 1, 2018, SPA -- Yemeni Minister of Health Dr. Nasser Baoom hailed the humanitarian and health support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait to his country, appealing the Arab countries to support Yemen due to a crisis caused by the Iran-back Houthi militias.
In his speech before the Arab Health Ministers Council at the Arab League in Cairo, Baoom said that the catastrophic consequences of the health sector in Yemen caused a lack of healthcare for 16 million citizens and 1.5 million children suffering from malnutrition, adding that 50% of the health facilities are partly or totally closed. He added that 17 million people in Yemen suffered from a lack of food security.
The Yemeni minister called to concerted efforts of the Arab states to develop and enhance the Arab health sector.
The meeting aims to discuss issues pertaining to the Arab health sector among the Arab states.
