Adare Manor in Co. Limerick has been voted the best resort in the world by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller.

The renowned publication has announced the winners of its Readers' Choice Awards 2022, which are now in its 35th year.

Adare Manor beat out renowned resorts around the world to secure its top spot in the list of Best Resorts in the World, including the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, which came in at no. 2, and Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa in Trancoso, Brazil, which nabbed the no. 3 spot.

This year, over 240,000 Condé Nast Traveller readers cast their votes and shared their recent travel knowledge of the world's top hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas, trains, airlines, airports, cruises, and more.

The publication singles Adare Manor out as "a thoroughly modern reinvention of a country escape", praising its plush furnishings and many activities on offer.

Its recent Michelin Sommelier award was highlighted, as was the world-class food served in the Michelin-starred Oak Room restaurant.

"This is a welcoming place without pretension", it adds, noting the new addition of an indoor pool, paddle tennis courts, yoga studio and sauna.

Dublin’s The Westbury has also been voted as the best hotel in Ireland, according to Condé Nast Traveller.

The publication has published its list of the top 10 hotels in Ireland, with the top three spots rounded out by the Marker Hotel in Dublin and Ballyfin Demesne in Co. Laois.

Elsewhere in the awards, Galway was listed among the top 10 Best Cities in the World, clocking in at no. 7.

Writing about the thriving city, the editor's noted that Galway "blends the historic – you'll see remnants of medieval stone walls weaving through downtown – with the contemporary, and its thriving art and music communities earned the city the title of European Capital of Culture in 2020".

"Its vibrant food scene spans from pubs to Michelin-starred restaurants, with plenty of fresh seafood thanks to the city’s location between the River Corrib and Galway Bay, and its wide range of lodging options includes cozy B&Bs and the avant-garde g Hotel and Spa."

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico was voted the no. 1 best city in the world, while Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and San Sebastián, Spain rounded out the top three spots, respectively.

If that wasn't enough, the Emerald Isle itself was included in the list of Best Countries in the World, coming in at no. 13 with a score of 88.53. Topping the list were Portugal, Japan and Thailand.
