Radisson Hotel Group believes that its Radisson Hotels & Resorts is the upscale brand with the largest growth in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

The firm has earmarked the line as one within its portfolio showing the strongest promise for development in today’s current climate, being a key component of its overall target to grow its current portfolio of 400 properties to over 2,000 hotels and resorts in operation and development by 2025.

International signings

With last year’s sale of Radisson Americas to Choice Hotels International, there are now 88 Radisson Hotels & Resorts operated by Radisson Hotel Group across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA), according to the group’s figures as at October 2022.

In recent years, the four star marque has signed and opened properties in Belgium, France, Poland, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Greece, Turkey, and the Maldives as well as expanding its presence in cities like Amsterdam, Dubai, Shanghai and New Delhi.

Scandinavian style

The brand is known for its signature minimalist Scandinavian style, with sites typically situated in capital and secondary cities, with a mix of airport, urban, suburban and convention locations.

Aimed at both business and leisure travellers, Radisson Hotels & Resorts enable guests to find harmony in their hotel experience, with highly functional design in a restful environment including relaxing natural spaces.

Imminent openings

According to THP data, there are at least 52 projects in the high end pipeline for the brand, totalling over 9,000 keys.

The next couple of years look to presently be the busiest for openings, with at least 18 heading into the portfolio this year, rising to at least 21 next year. Further ahead there are currently just three sites planned for 2025 and one in 2026, with the remaining nine yet to be designated a delivery date.

Asian attention

Asia comes top of the prospective premium pipeline, with at least 24 additions on the slate, representing 46% of the total. Africa comes next, with 16 sites and 31% of signings, with Europe bringing up the rear with the remaining 12 properties/23%.

For individual countries, India tops the list with at least eight upcoming openings, with China in second place on three. Poland, South Africa, Germany, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, France and Vietnam all have at least two apiece.

Vietnam vision

One of the Vietnamese additions will be the beachfront Radisson Resort Mui Ne in Phan Thiet. Scheduled to open in Q1 2024, the hotel will feature 128 contemporary rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, a café, the Sunset Bar, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, a spa and a kid’s club and games area.

There will be a 260 sq m conference room and a 160 sq m multi-purpose room catering for corporate meetings and social events, while the beach can be used as a wedding setting.

Rise of the resorts

In Europe, the 125-key Radisson Resort & Suites Ustronie Morskie will be the group’s 23rd property in Poland and its eighth resort, reinforcing Radisson Hotel Group’s position as a leading international resort operator in the country. It is scheduled to open in 2025.

For Africa, the 100-room Radisson Resort Dakar Saly in Senegal will be the first Radisson resort on the continent and the second Radisson-branded property in the western African nation when it opens its doors in 2024.
